How strongly does the domain zone affect the ranking of the site?

There is a site in Russian on the ru domain. An English version is planned to be launched.
Does it make sense to move the English version on the ru domain in the English-speaking Internet? Or is it better to run the English version on com?

From the point of view of ranking, there is no influence due to the fact that the domain zone does not play a role in this case, but if the SDL moves under the bourgeois, in any case it is better to buy the appropriate domain zone (.com / .net) because it is more familiar to local people. It would be a little crazy if our search results had Vietnamese / Korean domains in the top with the translation of the site into Russian

In foreign issuance, you can find non-handed domains, as well as foreign domains in Runet, and this seems to show that there is no influence as such. For bourgeois, it is better to take the version of the country for which the site is oriented. If in general English-speaking users, then com, if England, for example, then uk
