Ping

How not to ping so that half the planet lay down?

Hey!
Actually, two questions.
1) On school sites, hackers of 10-12 years old say that they put almost VK with ping. Actually, is it realistic to put frequent pings on the server? No, I'm not the one who wants to put someone, for this I prefer to use http flood with a 5 gigabit bandwidth.
2) I know that when pinging packets are transmitted. As the head says - the larger the packet, the longer it takes to wait for an answer. Actually, is it possible, for example, in Linux to specify the most minimal package, which in fact will not carry any load at all? Again, I understand that the response time will decrease, but this is not so important to me, I want to make for myself some kind of panel that will trigger if the ping suddenly increases (example: if ($last_result_of_ping < $result_of_ping)), then the panel will tell me about it. Such a system of analysis seems to me not very good, but still it is possible to carry out at least some analyzes.

No, firewalls usually block any ICMP traffic, so don't be a 14 year old hack yourself.
The question loses its relevance due to point 1, but any ping gives a load. Google the keys to the ping command, there you can specify the size and frequency of the packets.
