How much does a good (but not super cool) graphic designer cost?
I sometimes have to refuse orders (for website development), as clients sometimes want high-quality logo design, corporate identity, etc. I am a good illustrator, but purely technically - artistic experience is very small. So I'm looking at freelance design and in this regard, I'm interested in how much a good designer usually requires.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

You will need to interview more than one hundred people who worked with designers in order to get an adequate price picture. What is inexpensive for some is expensive for others.
Here the developers begin to judge by themselves and the designers begin to impose hourly rates, but this is not always necessary. Believe me as a designer I say. The project work of a freelance designer is always fixed. Long-term work (a large project, not 10 small ones periodically) or in the office - yes, it can be calculated from the hourly rate. Fixed rates have long been calculated on the basis of typical tasks. Logo, branding guide, home page, inner page, design audit, illustration, icons, etc. - for such tasks there is a fixed range.
Plus, the cost depends on the task. As I wrote above, there are prices for typical tasks, but all clients are different and in most cases this typical task needs to be adjusted to the needs of the client. In any case, this is how I work and I think that this is how it should work.
The hourly rate should be in the head of the designer, and the client should be called a fixed amount, already taking into account the pledged time, adjusted for the urgency and complexity of the task. And now the rate and odds already depend on the skill and experience of the specialist. Excuse me for getting a little sidetracked from the main question.
1. Logo development.
You can simply implement the idea that comes to mind, based on the client's task. One option without a claim to uniqueness i.e. not to analyze existing ones, not to check whether someone uses this idea and how important it is at all. And you can make three fundamentally different options to choose from, finalizing one to the final, study competitors, look for ways to stand out from their background and test your ideas for uniqueness among other logos.
And the cost of solving these problems can be, for example, from $50 to $200 and more. And this is all the cost of developing a logo from the same good designer.
2. Website design development (since they were mentioned in the comments).
There can only be a price for the main page and a price for internal unique / typical pages. But not hourly))) On some sites, additional graphics are needed, but on some they are not, someone takes pictures from the Internet / photo banks, and someone creates them himself. Consequently, the cost of the main one can be from $50 to $150, and the internal cost is $20-50 for unique ones and $10-20 for typical ones - and here it is logical to evaluate after studying the task and requirements.
So you would decide on a list of specific tasks, and there it will already be possible to collect information about the prices for these tasks . The price of "XXXX per hour" is not informative at all. does not give an understanding of the cost of the project.
If based on what was said in the question (logo and identity), then the prices can be called approximately as follows: logo - from $ 50-100 and more;corporate identity from 100-300$ depending on the number of FS carriers and the need to design a manual.
