How much attention do you pay to e-mail validation in forms?

Today I came across a funny fact that I never paid attention to. Perhaps for some this will seem quite normal and obvious.

I needed to register a second account on Twitter. I did not want to start a separate e-mail for this, but an account was already registered on the existing mailbox. The decision came quickly - I remembered that gmail will put letters in my mailbox even if instead of "[email protected]" they will be sent to me to "[email protected]". Well, you know the end of the story.

How do you solve this problem in your projects and do you solve it at all?

In my opinion, the main purpose of e-mail validation is to protect against typos. Everything else is redundant.

"+" is a valid character in the email. Therefore, it would be illogical to forbid its use. Validation is done in accordance with RFC and that's all.

By the way, Google's letters that will be sent to [email protected] also go to [email protected]
Google ignores dots in emails.

I can suggest you post a poll on this topic. For example, “How do you validate email in forms?”
