How long is an entry stored in the switch's fdb?
What to proceed from when setting a parameter in the switch?
Little is bad, too much is too.
The question is very cloudy, I know. I would like to hear ideas on the approximate calculation of the parameter.
By the way, the experience from the life of the parameter values \u200b\u200bthat you encountered is also interesting

It all depends on what price category of the switch we are talking about and how many subscribers / devices it serves.
It's one thing - a regular D-Link DES-1210 with a table size of 8K entries and a collision of MACs, which is in a single network for 5K subscribers without distinctions by VLANs, and another thing is an "adult" Cisco, which will let 50K subscribers cough and not notice it .
In principle, the default value: 300 is quite suitable in most cases.
You yourself have to decide which value is better, because. you need to analyze exactly your parameters - the number of subscribers, the network topology, the type of equipment used.
