How justified is the combination of ASP.NET MVC and AngularJS?

I am new to Angular but it looks quite interesting and promising, however I have no idea how difficult it will be to make friends with ASP.
What are the pitfalls, and what are the best tools to use for development (VS2013 and Sublime Text will do?)?

It doesn’t matter what software will be on the backend, the main thing is that the server sends data in the right format. I advise you to look at ASP.NET Web Api 2 , which is just sharpened for REST
