How is the copyright situation with Meduza.io?

As far as I understand, Meduza takes news from other sources, makes a small overview of the article, sometimes revealing the full meaning of the article, that you don’t even have to go to the source of the article, which is indicated in each article. So, how does the aggregator get news if most of the sources on the site have copyright?

— You will be like Yandex. News» to negotiate with the media on cooperation?
Kolpakov: We will negotiate with the media, with NGOs, we will talk directly with private producers of information. But not like Yandex.
Dyer: Our way of quoting other publications in principle does not violate anyone's rights, so this is a formality, but for the sake of decency, we will agree with everyone.

If I understand copyright correctly (I’ll make a reservation right away - I’m not a lawyer, so I can be very wrong), then it protects against copying, not retelling. And the ban on retelling is already an encroachment on freedom of speech.

IMHO, if you don’t want your information from the site to be “retelled”, you can try to “close” the site from search robots, most of these sites work in semi-automatic mode with manual post-processing, but if there is only manual labor, then nothing can be done about it, that’s how it was will be, everything you can see already sleep .. copied.
