How is Arduino developing?

Google gives articles from 2012-15.
Videos of examples of knocking hammers and watering plants with a bunch of wires do not inspire even my children.
Any new project or idea comes down to a banal purchase of components (not cheap ones),
waiting for them and assembling them, and what's next with the device? Buy a new set?
The battle of robots - in general, money down the drain in the literal sense? How can this be compensated financially?
How to develop interest in this direction?

Espruino appeared - Arduino on JavaScript, for example.

Arduino is quite a self-sufficient thing. At the heart of the microcontroller - look for tasks under the microcontroller, and he will perform them. For example, I did interactive things for quests on duins, and in terms of money, they “compensate” quite well.
Treat duina like Lego. Legov's cubes are more than a dozen years old - and nothing, they don’t complex. So with the duina - the tasks that can be solved on it have remained unchanged for several years. And, in favor of the Lego parallel, one of them is learning. Duina well reduces the threshold for entering the world of microcontroller programming. And it's reasonable - no one bothers to write code in asma, but not to bother with soldering. And vice versa - no problem to come up with your own "sensor".

Arduino is, first of all, knowledge, and how you convert your knowledge in terms of money depends on you. As for projects on Arduino, it all depends solely on your imagination. Some are smart enough for just running lights, others make complex systems like 3D printers and Rubik's Cube robots.
