How important is it to read Perfect Code and Design Patterns?
Hello.
Already 5 times I try to read the Patterns of the gang of four and once the third Code. Mastered 65 and 50 pages!
I love to read, very much! But there is no way ...
There is a lot of water in the books, a lot! Patterns are available in an abbreviated and understandable form on Wiki and other resources, but I have not yet extracted anything sensible from the Code. Stupidly one demagogy.
Should you read books? Or is it still too early? I'm 21, and judging by the content, the books are suitable either for serious nerds or for bearded guys who have more than a dozen years of work behind them...
UPD: GOF has excellent examples, but the content of the book is incredibly long, which is why you have to read between the lines skipping a few paragraphs, which is very annoying.
UPD2:the problem is not in understanding the patterns, but in the fact that the content of the books has an impressive amount of completely unnecessary material or absolutely obvious things like the importance of design...
Perhaps it was my perfectionism that raged.

There are no books that would be necessary to read in general, there are many sources and ways of obtaining scientific knowledge.
I'll say it myself. I never liked books, it was easier for me to read an article in 5 minutes.
My opinion changed after I heard such an idea that there is a correlation, those who read books - they are often professionals in their field.
On the same day, I started the Perfect Code, read it in 2 weeks, got so involved that today (in 3 months) I have already read 9 books.
As an advice, if the book is not rushing, then you should not continue, you should be interested, and in order to become interesting, find motivation. My motivation is not to be a shitcoder.
Who is interested in the list of books that I read and have read, you can see in trello
Not required, but highly recommended. Just do not read, but understand.
These books are just for "green" beginners, bearded guys learned most of these books on their own by jumping on a rake.
The patterns of the gang of four are
read in one breath with an open studio with code,
despite the fact that the examples are in java
, there are sources for different languages,
for example, I opened C #
everything is easy to understand
