Hello. What actually happens under the hood when Django starts the server? How does it work and with what?

For the especially witty: I know what Google is and I know that there you can write "how Django works" (and even in different languages), that's just except for the lessons from the section "Create a site on Django with w%py" and nothing else really fundamental and sensible does not issue.
