How does opening files by multiple users work?
Hello, please clarify this question: on a 2012R2 file server, users work with dwg files (via AutoCAD), User1 opens a file from the server and starts working in it, if at this time User2 opens this file, it will receive a notification that the file can only be opened for reading. But there are times when User2 opens a file in which User1 is definitely working but does not receive a notification and "gets permission to edit the file".
Maybe there is a session duration setting, etc.?

In general, the reason is most likely that Autocad by default makes autosaves to the local machine every 10 minutes, and that's when it happens, users drink coffee, no one touches the file, and the server itself thinks that no one is working with the file.
But there are times whenso you need to look closely at these cases - how do they differ
The program at work puts a lock on the file. Blocking can be either write or full.
But there are times when User2 opens a file in which User1 is definitely working but does not receive a notification and "gets permission to edit the file".It doesn't happen.
To block, AutoCAD creates two files in the folder .dwl and .dwl2 with the same names as .dwg
. In the files, you can peep who exactly blocked.
Perhaps you have some program deleting these files as garbage. In fact, they are garbage, all working folders or filled up after AutoCAD fatalities.
