A quota can limit the number of inodes available to a particular user or group on a file system.

# quota -v 301
Disk quotas for bob (uid 301):
Filesystem  usage  quota limit timeleft files quota  limit timeleft
/export/home   0      1     2             0      2      3

the files parameter is 0 , this is just the number of occupied inodes
