How does DNS work through proxy in GC?

Hello.
I'm trying to figure out how to launch a browser (chrome) on the Internet through a proxy, and I have a question.
When I use a browser to go to some url, it (the browser) tries to get an IP address from the url.
But where? Does the browser follow this address on its own, or instructs the OS?
And if I suddenly send the browser to the Internet through a proxy (the rest of the OS works without changes), then how will it get the address from DNS? Will he run to the specified proxy or ask the OS?
Or am I paranoid in vain and the existence of DNS and its contents does not depend on the presence of proxies? O_o :)
And what to do with DNS caching, which seems to be in the OS?
To be specific, I'm using win + chrome + SOCKS5.
Thank you.

dns does not work over http, but over a separate protocol, so it does NOT use a proxy.
The browser entrusts this to the OS, but the browser may have its own internal dns cache, policy for its use.
With DNS caching, which is DEFINITELY in the OS, do nothing - it should not bother you.
But if it interferes, then you can reset the cache, in windows it is ipconfig /flushdns , or disable it altogether - the dns client service.
