How does an audio amplifier work?

Dear habrousers, do we need a post telling the basics of the structure of amplifiers, why do we need these very transistors, a bunch of resistors and capacitors? All with pictures and explanations.

To understand how an amplifier works, it is necessary to explain the operation of a transistor in different switching circuits (how the collector current affects the voltage at the emitter there). Also mention the non-linearity of some characteristic. In the case of the condenser, explain its role in this case. Are you sure you can handle it? Then let's.
And explanations of the type of transistor amplifies, the capacitor weakens the current, nafig is not needed here.

If this is not just a reprint from the book "Young Radio Amateur", then why not.

I remember there was a post about transistors: habrahabr.ru/post/133136/
If your post supplements it with information about capacitors and other nodes, then it will probably be useful.
