How does 1c data exchange with the site work?

Hello.
We are making an online store in python / django and there is a task to unload and exchange goods from 1s "Trade Management". I connected the django-cml library and set up the connection of the site with 1c for now. Now we are making a script that will accept goods from an xml file.
It is not clear how 1s unloads the goods, that the xml file is unloaded first and then the archive with the image of the goods, or vice versa?
And even now, if you upload from 1s to the site, then images arrive on the site in the catalog as in the screenshot. I understand correctly that the images are not transferred in the archive?
