How do you implement the installation of working machines for users?
Good day.
Actually, I wanted to know how you install the OS on users' computers? I have so far walking with a flash drive to the computer and 2 hours of time to install + update + install programs.
I wanted to automate this somehow.
Tried Cobbler and Drbl. Cobbler quickly installs the system, but I did not find the installation of programs there after installing the system.
Drbl installs the system for about 2 hours + constantly asking questions.
I also tried Clonezilla - it gives an error at the disk cloning stage
"Failed to mount root filesystem !!!"
In this regard, I would like to know how you implemented it.

yes, if the machines are the same, then even acronis 11 copes with this perfectly
Linux - satellite/spacewalk/foreman Windows
- waik/mdt
upd. cobbler only manages distributions.
Either you prepare a distribution with the right software, or run kickstart/preseed with the right options during deployment.
I don’t know about others, but in large offices they use MS solutions
At us the user puts itself Linux. And he himself is an admin (or asks a colleague).
The department of informatics is engaged only in administration computers.
And this is done because if the user is not given root on his computer, this will turn into the work of the administrator in the mode 36 hours a day, 15 days a week: then install some new package, then set up access rights to a new device, then what ...
PS gentoo stage 4 unfolds in 15 minutes, another 45 minutes is spent on customization. And then the update starts at night, and everything is OK.
3 years in the service uploaded an image to new machines using acronis. If memory serves, then the image was pouring Windows + software + a couple of games, but without any drivers. 5 minutes to upload the image + 5 minutes of the driver for the mother and video.
If Windows look towards SCCM. Of course, it is a little paid (about $ 1000), but "it works without a license."
It is able to perform OS deployment, software installation, distribution updates for deployment, enters machines into the domain, executes any scripts after installation, and much more. That is, if you have a fleet of Windows machines in the amount of 500+, it is simply vital, if less, then, according to the circumstances. There are a lot of articles on setting up and installing on the Internet.
With the help of the role server built into windows, only the deployment of ready-made images is implemented.
You can use acronis and clonzilla, the only thing you need to do is change the UUID so that there are no problems with licenses, but acronis can do it for sure.
