How do you: developers, team leads, project managers look at a person without a higher education?

Everywhere there are questions from the position of whether VO is needed. I would like to hear how you look at a developer without VO. Do you see him as less qualified?

I definitely look badly at people who are not able to independently search for information, and the presence or absence of pieces of paper has always been indifferent to me, only knowledge and personal qualities are important.

Personally, I'm surprised. I will ask about the reasons for the absence and plans for receiving.

If you know how to write competently and efficiently, then higher education is not needed. For development in general, a tower !== a must. Our curriculum has such a specificity that they simply do not keep up with scientific and technological progress. In any case, in many educational institutions this is the place to be.

Approach the issue from the wrong side ... Knowledge, fundamental knowledge, the ability to search for and systematize information, the ability to learn, an engineering approach, the necessary acquaintances, etc. are important ...
These qualities can be obtained, including at a university - unless, of course, you are not only go there for the sake of the piece of paper...
And an approach like - "what the hell is that university, - I'll go through a quick video on programming on YouTube, and become a programmer, - the pieces of paper are not important anyway" - is wrong ...
From experience - on papers about graduation from the university is not guided. But all the sensible programmers with whom I worked - either graduated from a university, or were in the process of obtaining a diploma in correspondence and other forms of education.

Again this idiotic question.
We look badly, as if we were a half-educated person.

I have no idea about the presence of higher education in 99% of my current and past colleagues of colleagues. therefore, if I find out, it will not change my attitude in any way, because I already know that these are competent specialists and good colleagues.

In programming, neither the presence nor the absence of VO is absolutely indicative. Everything you need will be revealed during the interview.
