How do these applications store data?

Found a couple of apps in PlayMarket:
1) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com....
2) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id =com....
I can not understand how these applications store their data and update them almost every day, and with so much data they also weigh little?
What are the ways to implement this?

Obviously, they take this data from the network.
