How do the Edit Colors tab options work: "Blend Front to Back" "Blend Horizontally" "Blend Vertically"?

I can't use these options in a predictable way. Tell me in what cases they can be used?
On what example can you understand the principle of their work?

Blend Front to Back creates a color transition between the top color of the object and the bottom color of the object by painting over all selected objects between these two colors, no blend object is formed.
