How do product designers work with metrics?
I am a website and application designer. I want to get food experience. Can you please tell me how product designers work with various kinds of metrics? I have quite a few complex interfaces in my portfolio. But I didn't have to work with metrics. Please tell me the process of working with metrics, preferably with a simple example. The other day I had an interview with an interesting company. They liked my experience, but they asked me to prepare a case in which I would show how I designed and solved some tasks based on metrics.

Few people work with them. Although many people talk about them.
In general, everything is conceptually simple - there is an action, for example, registration or subscription to a newsletter, there is a conversion to this action. The task is to increase the conversion with the same traffic parameters. In other words, with the same advertising budget.
To improve registration conversion, you can try to change the interface - make the form more noticeable, simplify the process, add more registration buttons to the site, etc. But design alone is not always enough. With the same subscribers, for example, it is necessary to work more with the content, with the concept of the mailing list itself, with the submission of material, with subscription bonuses.
In short, common sense plays a big role here.
And by the way, in most cases, neither the designer nor the product manager have any idea why there are so many failures.
