How do PCs on the network look for a domain controller?

Disconnected on the server - the DHCP domain controller. All network management functions were transferred to the Mikrotik router. The PC stopped seeing the domain controller. How to improve the situation? What needs to be done with the network? I would like to understand the principle of searching for a domain controller on the network. Thank you!

Hell does not work without DNS return back

The PCs access the DNS server. If this DNS server is not associated with the domain in any way, then the PCs will not be able to find out the IP address of the domain controller.
