How do net-snmp commands determine the type of an snmp variable?

Hello.
When I send an snmp request, does the type of the variable come back to me in the response? Or is the team itself guessing what type of variables came?
I ask because in response to one snmpwalk I get this list: Some variables are visible as " Hex-STRING ", some as " STRING ". They must all be of the same type - " Hex-STRING ". Here I sit and guess, this piece of iron sends the wrong type, or snmpwalk incorrectly determines it.
...
SNMPv2-SMI::transmission.127.1.3.3.1.2.224 = Hex-STRING: 24 37 4C 0C 48 9A
SNMPv2-SMI::transmission.127.1.3.3.1.2.225 = STRING: "$7L
O*"
SNMPv2-SMI::transmission.127.1.3.3.1.2.226 = STRING: "$7L
O$"
...

Suggested on another forum. The piece of iron does not send a type. In the absence of a MIB, snmpwalk is forced to guess.
