How do I share Excel files over the Internet?

There are several users who make edits to Excel files, how to properly organize work with files so that there are no conflicts when editing at the same time. It may be necessary to use version control, but I don’t know how to do it correctly.
Spreadsheets are complex, with many dependent files, so online services like Google Spreadsheets are not suitable.
Ideally, it is desirable to make it so that when someone opens a file, it is blocked. Can this be done via WebDAV? Or some other way?

Use something like Microsoft. You can expect them to do the right thing.

Office 2019, we share files on sharepoint, co-editing works well, though we don’t work intensively in excel, but still.

Your option is to port everything to Google Spreadsheets. This is the only way you can edit the document without collisions.
Well, or take a step further and make applications for working with a single database (with locks, etc.)
