Issued an invoice to a client from the EU (tried both individual and company).
He claims that he needs an invoice showing his VAT.
Client: I need an invoice with the VAT number
He gave me his address and VAT number.
Where and how to insert VAT when generating an invoice on the pioneer site?

but you can ask if there are any solutions, at least for recipients from the EC (most likely not)

Here's app.freeinvoicebuilder.com to make a professional looking invoice. You can manually add the line VAT 123456... to the client's information. I'm 99% sure that such an "invoice" will suit him.
