How do I get the latest checkins from foursquare friends?

There is Foursquare, there is an API.
The API has a users/checkins method, but it's currently only available to self.
There is a checkins/recent method with parameters afterTimestamp (I set it to February 25, 2015) and limit (I set it to 100).
The problem is that he sends me only 8 check-ins and they are not the last ones at all (in swarm one guy is marked 5-7 times every day).
I know about venues/explore, it doesn't suit me.
Can someone come across this? Or is there another method?
