How do I disable or clear twitter text commands from a tweet?

How to disable short commands when crossposting via twitter API? For example, the word typed in a row "double" is perceived as an attempt to send a direct message to the user "O".
In addition to replacing the space after the command with a slash, I did not come up with anything. Tricky twitter recognizes most whitespace characters, so gracefully replacing the space does not work =(
Perhaps there is a ready-made package or class in php to neutralize these commands?
