Actually, I would like to hear the answer, from those who are seriously working with Node.js, how, so to speak, your "ascent" took place )

It is best to write something complex and scary and put it in open source, such that the task will take your breath away, or join an existing project in open source, even if nothing comes of it, then you will understand the node from the inside. Watch my lecture and other videos in the list, I hope they help https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Try7lmWikao&index=...

First I watched this screencast , then I wrote the code for a real project, and in case something didn’t work, I searched it in Google.

Since there are only 1 normal answers here. I'll put in my 5 cents.
It is good to learn any technology from all available sources, later you will already understand what is a good source and what is not. Read all the books available to you (or better, of course, buy a paper version), but even if you don’t have money / it’s a pity for money / you want to read right now, it’s clear that the electronic version has all those books that you can buy or even that are not on sale !
Naturally, without a good understanding of JS, there is nothing to climb into the node. In the meantime, you are looking for books on the node, I can recommend you a course from a "specialist" , but this does not mean that after watching the video course, you can assume that you perfectly know the technology (I advise you from personal experience, I made such a mistake in 2012, when studied PHP).
And I would recommend not to treat node as something fundamentally new (if you already know JS). After all, you are not starting to study a new area, but just a different JavaScript specification.
I'm also studying the node now, so go for it, at least there are two of us ;-).
