How can I save a video recorded for N minutes?

I am recording video using MediaRecorder. How can I save a video that was recorded within the last N minutes. GeForce Experience has the same feature (Replay mode, it seems).
I have an idea to record videos for 30 seconds, and after N * 2 recorded videos, delete the earliest when a new one appears. But maybe there are more elegant solutions?
