How can I pass the -j option to make without calling it with this option?

Symbian uses its own Perl build system to build applications, which itself generates makefiles and then invokes gnu make itself. The make call parameters are set somewhere inside the scripts.
To perform non-standard tasks, you can write your own makefile and add it to the project. Can you tell me what to write?
