How can I connect to MongoDB on the server?

actually in this question the hoster says

To manage the database, use all available programs. External access to the database is open. From the command line, utilities are available from the /usr/local/mongodb/bin directory

So the question is, which program should I use?

mongo composs/mongo chief/robomongo
Compos from the mongo distributor and the newest, but it's more for live stats.
I use robomonga myself.
In general, you need to create a user to connect to the database.
