How can I be notified that a request has been received?

Good afternoon. I'm trying to implement a simple chat. I can't figure out how to implement a notification output. when a new friend request arrives. I have a collection of users. Each user has a receivedRequests list with IDs of users who sent him friend requests. How can I subscribe to this very sheet and when an element is added to it, get this new element?
