How can a designer keep track of edits in a layout and how can they be conveniently managed?

Good day!
To understand what the problem is, I describe in more detail: I
constantly have to suffer with minor changes to the layout, and then return it as it was, for example:
1. change the text color here -> submit for approval
2. change the background color here -> submit for approval
3. color the text now does not fit the background, you need to return it as it was in paragraph 1 -> sending for approval
The problem itself is to somehow fix somewhere what has been changed (sign) so that you can then easily return it to its place.
So far, when I change (for example, the color of the layer text), I make a group, in it a subgroup with the number of the change, duplicate the layer from the previous change there and write in the Excel table what was changed. If there are several changes (for example, the position of one layer changes, but it does not fit, you have to move others), then I also put it in groups with the same numbers so that I know that everything changed at a time.
So far, all this is more or less functioning, but it takes too much time. Are there ready-made plugins / add-ons / systems for version control of psd layouts?
Photoshop has a built-in "Snapshots" function, it fits in principle (except for the impossibility of a long description), but it's not saved with the file =(
Git is not suitable, because even if we neglect the fact that it is of little use for binary formats, it has more trouble with it - resave the original file, restore the previous one, do not forget to move everything into it, commit, etc. (Yes, even when using GIT UI) (Maybe I'm wrong and there is some already worked out "path" for the designer).
PS Yes, yes, the TK, and according to the TK, I prescribe the possibility of adjustments by the customer, so this is not discussed =)
PPS It is necessary because more than one project is being carried out at a time and you can’t keep everything in your head (especially when the customer pops up in a week) it’s the same change option.
PPPS No need to send to more "designer" forums, they just sent it from there. this topic is more about project management.

We need to change the way we work with clients. All these edits like “make the text bigger” and “change it to red here” carry a different desire of the customer. Maybe he thinks the text is invisible and important, so he wants to make it bigger. Or it seems to him that competitors have the same heading color and this is bad - he needs to find out.

- Pun, change the title size to 20 points.
— Alexei Semyonitch, why do you want to change him?
— Well, it seems to me that the title is too small, over there, in Ikea the titles are big!
- If you make the headings larger, then the layout will fall apart. Let's better show more product photos so that customers have something to look at. This will help them find what they need.
- Let's try.

That's how you have to deal with such "edits".

And what do you not like to produce versions of files?
ProjectName_rev_2017-10-25.psd Asking
to return to the version of the 25th? no problem.
