How are interesting questions chosen?
I want to implement this in my service, but I don’t understand a little what the principle is.
By the number of views per day?
By the number of unique visitors per day?
Or just sort by last viewed time?
By the number of views for the entire time of existence - checked, no.

most likely a formula with coefficients (kn), taking into account several factors:
views * k1 + subscribers * k2 + replies * k3
Your site - you decide what to use, you can even manually select them yourself.
For the entire time of existence - old irrelevant questions may hang in the top.
The rest is quite suitable, IMHO, only, perhaps, not in a day, but in a longer period of time, depending on your audience.
As for me, this is most successfully implemented in reddit. You can, of course, manipulate multi-accounts, but here it depends on the moderator.
