If in general terms, then:
1. What you see on the monitor screen is the contents of the video memory. For each point, there are several bits multiplied by three. That is, with a color depth of 24 bits, each color (Red, Green, Blue) has 24 bits.
2. If the video card works with 3D graphics, then it calculates the scene and projects it onto a plane. Further, the picture from the plane again falls into the video memory and, accordingly, onto the monitor screen.
PS. Video memory - refers to the area of ​​\u200b\u200bthe memory of the video card in which the image for the monitor is stored. And the rest of the memory of the video card may contain additional data (textures, etc.)
