Malware

Has anyone seen modern malicious sites? What is the chance now to get infected just by visiting the site?

Is Meltdown still active? Are these sites verified by Google? I have not seen specific examples on the Internet, except for hidden mining through the site 4 years ago (now even microsoft edge has officially banned such mining). Can a site quietly and without my consent download malware and do anything with the computer (from downloading a miner or a Trojan to remote control, as if I downloaded a dubious .exe myself), bypass UAC, respectively? What happens if you just climb all the sites in a row?

I have been using computers for as long as I can remember since I was 5 years old.
I remember the virus, or malicious code from the site, I received only by downloading this virus.
Since I began to study programming, and turned off antiviruses, even on the most dangerous sites (and this is the dark side of the web, for example, adult content that just wildly generates tabs), I have not received a single virus.
I've been on Linux for 8 years now, and everything else is either Windows or Linux.
Hidden mining, by the way, I caught, but then it quickly disappeared, browsers learned to block it.
No site, without your consent, cannot download malware, even on Windows, only if you yourself have not clicked the mouse.
Climb all the sites in a row, I stopped being afraid of malware at all, and just opened my ubuntu to collect analytics, and now if you check me by User-Agent, you can see the kernel, system, language, qt version.
Update:
I just became better at defending myself, for example, on Linux I have lynis, tripwire, fail2ban
On Windows, I generally sit naked.
