Gulp and its future?

A colleague told me that Gulp is dying and will no longer be supported, and advised me to use Webpack instead of Gulp, and I just recently started getting acquainted with Gulp. But I don't like collecting css files in Webpack, for each file you need a js file and in general it turns out to be an ugly mess. Are there any alternatives to Gulp? Except Grunt of course)
