Guaranteeing the authenticity of DB records. Is it possible?

Actually, within the framework of one personal project, the question asked in the topic arose. It is necessary to ensure the authenticity of the records, or documents in the database. Naturally, the blockchain comes to mind, a cursory search gave the IPDB project, but after reading a couple of their posts on the medium, it became clear that this whole project has been written with a pitchfork on the water, and the future is suspiciously unsteady. If I misunderstood, please tell me. And in general where you can dig to start on this topic.
Thank you.

@makarjones

And how to ensure that the document has not been edited since publication?

We take a document ready for publication, calculate the hash from it (SHA-256, for example) and publish the document with this hash in the address.
Example:
https://example.com/foo/bar/d7a8fbb307d7809469ca9abcb0082e4f8d5651e46d3cdb762d02d0bf37c9e592

Anyone can check the hash. There are separate programs and online services .
If you change at least one bit in the document, the hash will change and no longer match the address.
