GTK2 for an idiot

Is there any book in the style of "... for idiots" dedicated to GTK2?

I want to figure out on the weekend how to make a gnome application. I'm not interested in a C textbook, but in describing GTK/gnome as a technology and platform for rapid development of GUI programs. I would like step-by-step instructions, life tips, screenshots and a humanly chewed answer to the question "how to use it in reality ".

1. At one time, when there was a need, I found everything on the Internet, i.e. google!
2. In conjunction with python, for example, it will be easier, there are wrappers, and many, by the way, just use python + gtk
3. Already have gtk3;) April 6 release of gnome using it :)

I recommend that you first read the tutorial and drive the glade editor (something like studio molds). In principle, everything is quite simple and logical there, the only thing you need to remember is the asynchronous nature of X11.
