Grunt - just forget the old, dumb bike that's only needed because people don't like Make or Ant. You have to mess around with temporary files, fat and unreadable configs... in short, why...
Prepros - not serious. To be honest, I don’t even know what to say here, for a layout designer, for a frontend - for an amateur.
Codekit is not serious. For those who are not able to deal with something more flexible.
Gulp is everything. No temporary files, all manipulations in memory due to which everything is very fast, very flexible (code over configuration) ... Starting with version 4, it will be generally good. I don't see the point in using something else. Only for specific tasks or from laziness.
I use galp, because it's faster and if you connect and configure a lot of plugins, the config remains readable
Personally, I like Grunt.
Haven't tried gulp.
UPD: Gulp is slightly more difficult to set up than Grunt. But faster. Which one to use is a matter of taste.
On the other hand, for example, I used gulp, but in fact it turns out that for a simple start it’s easier to run codekit and start already, rather than putting gulp locally in a folder first, checking configs. And in general, codekit compiles scss files at least faster. Therefore, I abandoned gulp a couple of months ago and everything suits me.
Z.Y. Of course, it won’t suit everyone, I’m a banal frontender.
Grunt - more plugins, Gulp - faster and easier.
Paid, and even with a guy? Guinea.
