GraphQL, should it be used for a social network?

With one friend we are writing (in initial development) a social network. Today he told me about things like GraphQL and neo4j.
Do you think it's worth using them? And what pitfalls will be if we plan to make social. network, such as VK, with its own API.
PS: It is planned to be done as an educational project. If something worthwhile comes out, then naturally we will promote it)

I will write you a couple of my thoughts, as a person who uses GraphQL daily in conjunction with react. The technology is cool, very convenient and understandable (not for nothing that Facebook uses it). But there are some downsides ( https://www.howtographql.com/advanced/4-security/).
If you have a couple of weeks left, which you are ready to spend on studying the technology as a whole, on studying the scheme that is built on the back, in order to understand how you will work with all this at the front, then use it, everything depends on time.
PS there is no desire to use REST after GraphQL...
