Google vs Microsoft?

I will not be original if I raise the topic again. But still I want to ask smart people.

Two organizations work under the same sky, breathe the same air, eat the same hamburgers. They are all capitalists. Perhaps even workers outbid each other. For example, I enjoy using the products of both companies.

And how many reviews, articles I haven’t read, I still don’t understand. Why do many try to present Google as good and Microsoft as evil or vice versa. They say the first strangles everyone, Google helps. A kind of good knight - takes away from the rich and gives to the poor. For what reason. Why is it necessary to divide into black and white.

Do you think it's just positioning? Are they deliberately misleading us, consumers?

Thank you.

Because Microsoft is the corporation of evil. Google does not pay bribes , does not buy pseudo-research on the topic “Google is 42% better than Bing”, does not use FUD and Embrace, extend and extinguish methods in its work , does not post blatant lies on its official website, does not call competitors names ... Of course, from it doesn’t follow at all that Google is a good guy, it’s just that against the background of assholes from Microsoft, it looks like a corporation of goodness.

I don’t know why such an opinion was formed, but IMHO MS
- they use proprietary formats instead of open ones, Google - on the contrary, opens up its developments and uses industry standards
- ties its users to its products, making it difficult or impossible to integrate with them. Google, on the contrary, publishes an API for its products and actively develops it,
and so on in the same vein. In general, they have different policies, and I personally prefer Google's policy.

The main reason: some people want to stand out and they're kind of cooler than the rest, because do not use MS products.
MS:
1. Most users have been surrounded by MS products for many years when working with a PC - various inevitable jambs accumulate in the user's memory.
2. Windows is strong in applications that are written for it - users consider the jambs of these applications to be MS jambs.
3. Users often (when not pirated) explicitly pay MS.
4. A heavy legacy of compatibility in many MS products, as due to the popularity of these products, compatibility support cannot be quickly discontinued.
Google:
1. It is more difficult to notice jambs in the response of the search engine (I don’t know about android, I can’t say why, and the search engine is the main source of income for Google).
2. There are very few third-party applications (for android, they just go through a preliminary check like Apple does, try organizing this for all software for Windows)
3. The user obviously does not pay Google.
4. There are not so many products, and among them there is no full-fledged OS for PC, IDE, Office, etc.
5. Supporting products is easier, because on the Internet they are mainly represented by GUIs, and the very mechanics of work can be replaced on your servers.
I would not say that Google is doing new things and MS is not. Everything is even, it's just that Google is younger and is associated with novelty. And so all the giants often buy other people's solutions (after all, the android was bought).

Perhaps this is a consequence of the fact that Google usually develops new products itself, and Microsoft often takes solutions created by others, improves them a little and sells them.

I beg you, companies didn’t give up at all, they just need a positive image and that’s it. All these "corporations of good and evil" are invented by people themselves, because they WANT someone to be kind and someone bad, such a dislocation of psychology.
For this very reason, by the way, there are a lot of MS-haters, both among those who use its products, and among those who do not.
Those who use it are guided by “but I’ll install a pirated Windows / office / server - to throw Gates / MS for N bucks, they’re bad !!!”, but they can’t explain why they are bad if they are satisfied and they use it.
Those who don’t use it are guided by “but I’ll do anything, I’ll dodge in any way I like, even though I won’t do anything at all if it doesn’t work out, but I won’t use [MS products], they’re bad !!!”, because to use - means to admit that they are not so bad, and this is akin to betraying oneself.

And why, then, are the smartest people trying to endow companies with good or evil? And in general, are they competitors or is it a fiction?

Everything is quite simple. Most of Goggle products are free, Microsoft is paid.

Not exactly an answer to the question, but as the opinion of a person who does not enjoy the products of both companies ... It so happened that I did not use MS products for quite a long time, because. more on the Amiga was ... And it turned out that I needed to copy a disk from a friend (it was like 1998). And at the moment when this disk began to be copied, I realized that MS is a corporation of evil :).
ps I don't use MS products of my own free will (I use them at work, but again, apart from Windows itself, there is nothing from MS). Well, the soul doesn’t lie (and in general they haven’t answered me for the Amiga yet :)) Someone will say that this is a subjective opinion and that this company is excellent in general. Maybe. But all the good things that are on Windows (for me) have nothing to do with MS. Again - if someone thinks that MS is so good - support with a ruble (buy Windows and an office). And I made my choice - and it is not at all in favor of MS.

Who is stronger, he is angrier. This is the psychology of users. They always want to score the strongest :)

You've got the wrong idea. Both corporations are evil.
