Google Maps API. What's wrong with the quota?
Good evening everyone! I'm having a problem with Google Maps and the Geocoding Javascript API. When loading a connected map, the message "There was a problem loading Google Maps on this page." The console in the browser gives the following message: Geocoding Service: You have exceeded your daily request quota for this API.
As far as I understand, Google changed its open api policy in July and now, with more than 25,000 requests per day, you have to pay for the map service. My site is visited by a maximum of 100 people per day and it is very far from the maximum limit there. In the Google maps console, I have a quota equal to 1. In order to increase it, the console offers to bind to the billing service. And at this point I am completely confused. Help with the following questions:
1) Are google maps and google geocoding still paid or free api (we are talking about the number of requests up to 1000)?
2) is it necessary to bind to the billing service in order to exceed the quota equal to 1?

The APIs are free, but require a credit check. As far as I understand, this is done in order to identify account owners and protect against robots.
The problem is that it is quite easy to steal a web key from some large resource and start using a paid API for personal purposes.
Gool maps became paid. I confirmed the payment details, but I was offered to pay one of the options. There is a small free quota, but it is only enough for an unloaded site. Here the guy writes more specifically at prices https://habr.com/en/post/417715/
