E. Troelson - The C# Programming Language and the .NET Platform
An excellent book. It will allow you to understand the language at a high level, and also, if necessary, read about advanced .net technologies.
In no case do I advise you to open Shieldt. The book may seem pleasant and understandable, but in fact it can do more harm than good.
