.go not compiling?

Downloaded Go from an offsite for windows and installed it in c:\Go
Created a system variable C:\GOPATH
GOROOT added C:\Go\ Added
c:\Go\bin to the PATH variable
On the command line wrote go version
received: go version go1 .8 windows/amd64
wrote hello world and ran go run main.go
got: C:\Go\src\test>go run main.go
GetFileAttributesEx main.go: The system cannot find the file specified.
What am I doing wrong? Why does not it work?
