Gnu C++ or Visual C++ for Programming Olympiads?

Essence of the question: the olympiads provide a choice of compiler or gnu c ++ or visual c ++, it is clear that the difference between them is not so big, but still, which of them is more suitable for programming olympiads and why?

For Olympiad programming any compiler. Because in Olympiad programming every byte and nanosecond counts. Therefore, stl, virtual methods, etc. are practically not used. In fact, Olympiads write in a terrible dialect of C.
