Give me your thoughts on computer repair

Hello, habrocomrades!

I fell into my hands one computer four years ago, requiring repair.
Configuration:

- PSU Comstar 400W
- CPU Athlon 2, Socet AM2
- RAM 2 X DDR2, 800
- Motherboard Asrock N68-S, micro ATX ( its full description )
- Video integrated/ATI G210 512Mb
In fact, these are the most important in this context characteristics.

Problem.
The computer starts and runs. The cooler on the processor is spinning, the HDD is obviously spinning pancakes, the mouse is shining with a laser. But! There is no image on the monitor.

Question.
In your opinion, am I right in thinking that the matter is in the mat. board and needs to be replaced?

What was done.
- Checked the monitor - working
- Checked the video card - working
- Dismantled the system unit - no dust, clean
- Swollen capacitors, no signs of burning - Removed the
BIOS battery, put it back - nothing ( hereinafter - tested on both discrete and integrated video cards )
- Turned off the HDD and CD-ROM - nothing
- Turned off the keyboard and mouse
At this point, the image appeared , everything worked. On the next reboot - again nothing. However, nothing has changed in the configuration .

- I removed one and then both memory sticks. Cleaned and replaced them, nothing.

— Further removed GENERALLY everything. Left only connected: Power button, Processor, 1 memory stick, cooler on the processor. I connected the monitor to the built-in card - nothing. To discrete - nothing.

Something else?
Tell me, maybe I missed something else, something to check, or see?
Thank you.

Try to unscrew and start the mainland without a case, maybe the motherboard touches the case wall somewhere.

And what about the power supply? We checked that it gives out + 12V. What is the output on the additional 4-pin power connector?

Is there no speaker? Or does he not beep? If it is and does not beep, in most cases it is the processor

Any MP is diagnosed by the speaker. It doesn't just install.
0. If there is no speaker, connect it.
Then, at each step, listen to the speaker and diagnose .
1. Turn on the MP without anything at all, even without a processor.
2. Plug in the processor.
3. Connect the memory.
4-N. Connect everything else one by one.
If there are no signals at all at the first step, it is either a dead speaker or an MP.

I met not quite similar, but something similar.
The computer turned on, worked a little, and then ... Chopped off. After the restart, the same symptoms - a black screen, zero reaction ...
After replacing EVERYTHING (even the motherboard) - only the processor remained. In fact, he's probably the problem.
By the way, the processor was exactly the same as here - Also AMD AM2

And if you put a video card, will it work? There is also a PCI-e x16 slot.
Putting a simple card will still be easier than changing the whole mother.

I advise you to carefully look at the capacitors, it is also possible that some capacitors are not visible, since they are under the processor heatsink (although I looked at the photo, it seems that it should not be covered). If they are definitely not swollen in appearance, then they may still be non-working, but most likely, if you look closely, then there are a little swollen.

Recently there was a very similar situation, as a result, the percent (Phenom II X4) was to blame, but I can’t vouch for your case. I advise you to take the motherboard under the moneyback (I did just that) and make sure. If the config was on Intel, then 90% of the motherboard is problematic, with AMD the percentage could die (especially if it was poorly cooled).

Today I'll try on another motherboard and still unsubscribe.

The thing is, when you turn on the power supply, it starts and applies voltage to the mother, but in the process of initializing the iron, the bios comes out with some kind of failure, because of this the computer itself does not really start. The reason can be like a banal short circuit somewhere on the mother, or the death of some component of the mother from bridges to prots. Of the recommendations, check the capacitors, integrated sound chips and network cards in more detail, and if possible, reball bridges. Or the simplest thing is to replace the motherboard, since AM2 can still be found for quite adequate money.
