Github or Sourceforge?
The thing is this: I am writing my project in php, and my office colleagues advised me to use one of these services, they say version control + you can show your work to the people. Tell me which one is better to choose? What are you using? When answering, please indicate the pros and cons that you consider important?

github is a little easier, more convenient. But it is only for GIT. But now it is probably the most popular platform for placing code. A handy bug tracker, pull requests… all this is pleasing to the eye.
On the other hand, Sourceforge has support for more than just GIT repositories. But on other indicators, he loses a little.
The interface of the GitHub site resembles Twitter Bootstrap, so it's more familiar and visually easier than SourceForge's. Many nuances look more thoughtful and become a powerful tool, a means of instant visibility: for example, when you go to the project page, you immediately see the code of contents, and the description from the README under it, and the addresses of the Git repositories, and the number of active pull requests (code merge requests) , and the number of outstanding issues (bugs and suggestions).
In short, I recommend GitHub, I strongly recommend it.
Github, there are two reasons, convenient GIT and the second is that there are a lot of people sitting, so in case of interest, there will be someone to make commit requests.
