github desktop error: "could not commit submodules", what to do?

I'm trying to create a new repository and add my local project to it, an error appears:
Already tried to create an empty repository and drag files into it, but they are not sent to the server.

You apparently have git repositories in your project, so it swears. Either add them via .gitmodules or ignore them.
