Most likely, you, like me, have already upgraded to android 5.0. There is such a wonderful forum on our devices, there is all the data. The root spoiler and custom recovery has instructions for getting root. On devices with version 4.4.x, you can get root without firmware only on firmware no older than NG2. But since your version is 99% already the fifth, it will not work without a minimum firmware. I am also far from firmware, but I managed to follow the instructions without killing my phone :)
