Getting rid of SMART flag in network interface settings via ifconfig?

Here is the log of my ifconfig -a:
en0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1400
ether 64:b9:e8:c8:5a:54
inet 1ay9.2pi4.1shn8.1ik6 netmask 0xffff0000 broadcast 1ay9.2pi4.2sh5.2ik5
media: 100baseTX <full-duplex,flow-control>
status: active
By itself, the SMART flag is needed for the interface to independently manage network routes.
Attention question! (BU-U-M-Mmmm)
If I will remove it, then who will take on routes? Some kind of cacodemon? Is it shifting work from the physical interface to the operating system? Or, without this flag, will I have to write routes manually, the ones that are marked with the C flag (if I didn’t mess up anything) in the netstat -r table?
